Apple Computer Ad (Scientific American, September 1979)
Apple Computer received a huge boost on September 21, 1978, when a state-supported organization called the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium (MECC) awarded its first micro-computing contract to the fledgling Cupertino, California, company. The agreement allowed schools in Minnesota to purchase Apple II computers through MECC at a substantial discount. Over the next three years, MECC helped place more than 2,000 computers in Minnesota classrooms and, in the process, became Appleās largest reseller.
