That’s Minnesota for you. It’s that “aw shucks” attitude – for some, it’s just not acceptable to be proud of anything from this state. The Jucy Lucy is “just” a burger with the cheese inside the patty, in the same way that a Chicago Style Hot Dog is “just” a hot dog with some vegetables on it, in the same way that a Philly Cheesesteak is “just” some beef fried up with peppers and cheese, New England Clam Chowder is “just” a cream soup with clams.
Ok, so he doesn’t care for the Jucy Lucy. That’s fine, no one said that it is mandatory. It’s one thing not to like it, it’s another to be insulting to a Minneapolis institution.
