She’s worse than I thought.
In the video above, Jan Brewer repeatedly ignores Arizona reporters’ questions about why she has refused to recant her false claim that there have been beheadings in the Arizona dessert, comments she made in support the need for stricter immigration laws.
Her suggestion, of course, is that Mexicans are crossing the border to commit atrocious acts of violence. But despite the rhetoric from the Right, border violence is not on the rise and state-wide violent crime is at its lowest point since 1983.
The aggressive tactics of border patrol agents, however, are increasingly deadly—in June, an agent shot 15-year-old Sergio Hernandez in the face, killing him while he was on the Mexican side of the border. The agents lied about the incident, and the U.S. government tried to portray the boy as a criminal. Sad.
Wow.
